GUN Special Acoustic Livestream Performance - Recording Studio - Sat 7th November, 2020

It's been eight months since my last gig and I had none on the horizon for at least the rest of the year thanks to Covid 19. When GUN announced they were going to perform in a Livestream, it was too good an opportunity to pass up. I paid my money, tuned into the Facebook page and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

I knew the gig was genuine because there was a video post from Jools and Dante the day before promoting it. Lots of scammers were adding links in the comments section purporting to be the genuine article but I wasn't going to fall for that again.

Eventually, the live feed started...then stopped again.

Fifteen minutes later, it started again and this time it showed the band, who apologised for the technical difficulties they were experiencing.

They then went on to play for another hour and a half, performing acoustic versions of some of their favourite GUN songs. The drummer was absent but everyone else from the band was there. I sang along in my living room and took screen captures of the feed on my phone, as close an approximation to a live gig as I'm going to get this year. Yes, the picture pixellated occasionally and the feed froze a couple of times as the stream was interrupted but that was okay. It wasn't perfect but, having been starved of live concerts, this was good enough.

They promised to do another one in the future. Hopefully, they'll learn from the experiment and give us a bit more anecdotal chat between numbers and mike up properly so we can hear them talking more clearly. They did tell us one story of touring with Def Leppard In The Round. The headliners had bought expensive radio mikes which picked up all kinds of stray frequencies from taxis to police cars, whereas GUN's mikes, purchased for £50 from Tandy worked perfectly. More of this type of chat and perhaps some covers would be appreciated.
