Queen and Adam Lambert, The Rhapsody Tour, Ovo Hydro, Glasgow. Friday 3rd June, 2022

Some gigs have intimacy, some have spectacle and some are just a bloody good time. This was all three.

From the moment of arrival, it felt like it was going to be a great gig. There was a buzz from the crowd packing the area around the B stage at the end of the extended platform leading from the stage. We managed to find a spot where the heads were not so tall. Then my wife and mother in law moved to an even closer location with a better view. I was happy where I was. Dry ice billowed into the air to add to the atmosphere.

There was no support act - no other band were needed - so this was a night of Queen by Queen and Adam Lambert and it so didn't disappoint. It's beyond a cliche to say this was a kind of magic. It was just an amazing two-and-a-half hours. The light show, the screens, the performances, everything was perfect.

It may only be June but I believe I've just seen my gig of the year (and I've still got Barry Manilow to go).

It was sweet watching the reaction of the girl at home who was being video called so she could see the show. I hold no grudges against the family who one by one stood in front of me (you weren't tall enough to bother me, except when you lifted your camera at the exact moment I wanted to snap). To the beefy girl with tattoos, I loved your enthusiasm, even if you couldn't keep those arms in the air all night.

And to Queen: thank you for the greatest of nights. You rocked us and made us feel like champions. Superb.
