The Wonder Room, voco Grand Central, Glasgow. Friday 14th August, 2026.

Overview

An intimate magic show performed in Glasgow.

The Wonder Room is Glasgow magician Ryan K. Davidson’s new one-man show in residence in one of the city's most historic and iconic venues, offering a unique, up-close experience of magic and storytelling to a strictly limited audience.

Set in an intimate, purpose-designed suite in the luxurious Voco Grand Central Hotel in the heart of Glasgow, The Wonder Room opens its doors every week by ticket or invitation only.

Each show is limited to 20 tickets, ensuring that everyone in the room is a participant rather than merely a spectator.

Ticket Price: 4x £25.08 from Eventbrite

The above blurb paints an adequate picture of the event: close-up magic and storytelling. What it fails to illustrate is the wonder on show. How does he pull off such mystifying tricks? That's what you'll be thinking as you leave, opening a debate with your friend(s).

Everyone gets to play some part in events. Half the guests sit at the table; the others sit on high stools behind them, so everyone can view the proceedings. I initially got confused over which level the Wonder Room was on. The first floor at the Voco Grand Central is actually the top floor, the level above the Champagne Bar. I missed the arrow signs directing visitors upstairs.

"You're travelling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead—your next stop, the Wonder Room."

The doors open at 6.45 pm, so if you want a seat at the table, get there early. Your ticket also entitles you to 20% off food and drink at the hotel, so remember to say you're attending the Wonder Room when you order (unlike me). The bar staff will usually accept your word without needing to see your ticket.

Ryan is a master card dealer. No matter how closely you look, you'll not see his sleight of hand. Each trick is clever, enhanced by his gift for storytelling, all building to a finale that is out of this world. He knows how to work the audience, cajoling the shy, bantering with the extroverts, speaking in his honest, Glaswegian tongue. At no time did I feel uncomfortable, though one woman was overcome with emotion at the end, needing a tissue to stem her tears. The show finishes around 9.20 pm.

If you are looking for a special night of Wonder, keep an eye out for tickets as they go on sale. They go fast. Available on Eventbrite via Ryan's website:

CANCELLED -The Wonder Room, voco Grand Central, Glasgow. Friday 1st May, 2026

Event refunded.
Good afternoon.

Due to the ongoing impacts of the Union St fire, Voco Grand Central Hotel is still closed. The hotel is within Glasgow City Council's exclusion zone and cannot reopen.

Unfortunately, this means we are unable to host The Wonder Room and need to cancel all upcoming shows in April and May. This is a difficult situation that's outside my control or the hotel's.

I appreciate that some of you will have waited a long time to get tickets for the show and will be disappointed that the shows have been cancelled.

Once we have confirmation from the hotel that we can reopen, you will be contacted with a private link to buy tickets for future public show dates before they are on public sale.

In the meantime, refunds will be issued to all customers via Evertbrite. You do not need to do anything. This may take a few days to process as per Eventbrite's Terms & Conditions.

I'd like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket and supported the show. It really means a lot to me. Hopefully, we'll be able to welcome you very soon.

Cheers.
